I'm writing this blog because I want to give new Lieutenants coming after me some advice and observations to help them prepare for IBOLC. Nobody likes walking in to something with no idea of what to expect; hopefully my writings will save you from the same experience I had. Please keep all comments professional, and remember OPSEC. Goodbye to Benning?
Ranger School is (finally) done - I am not, as they say, a smart Ranger. One last obstacle, barring any additional schooling, remains - out processing. I'm told by friends that it's a pain in the ass, so I thought I'd make a comeback to give some tips on the whole process. I'll let you know as things develop.

Good to hear you made it, I am in HHC right now getting ready to go to Ranger School at the end of Aug. If there is anything you can say about Ranger School before I head out that would be great.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, there's not much to say. People spend so much time worrying about how much sleep/food/whatever you're gonna get, but who cares? As cliche as it sounds, the thing is to not quit - don't give up on yourself, don't give up on your ranger buddy, and whenever life is sucking for you, don't sham out. If you're in good physical shape, know how to land nav, and pay attention to detail, you'll make it through RAP Week. After that, they'll teach you what you need to know, and as an infantry LT, you'll have a huge leg up on guys, not only in planning but in actions on as well. Leader Forge does a surprisingly good job in getting you prepared for Ranger School.
ReplyDeleteGOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU! Great to hear you made it out... Im not yet to BOLC but Im getting everything together. The new year cant get here soon enough! Looking forward to reading everything all over again. Congrats! Whats next after graduation?
